Weekly Therapy

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

- Nelson Mandela

There are many different approaches to therapy. Some help you change behaviors, or reorder your mindset. Some focus exclusively on the body. My approach is to engage you holistically - your mind, body, and spirit. I want to learn your language and also help you better translate yourself. Trauma often creates a splintering between the different parts of ourselves so that we over and under function from these different parts. Our work is toward integration. This will likely take time and regularity. I typically work with folks for a season of weekly engagement to establish stability and trust so as to work toward growth and liberation.

I work primarily over telehealth. I am paneled with First Choice and Kaiser PPO. I also provide superbills so that you are able to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Sessions: 50 mins = $170.00 90 mins = $260.00

Specialties:

Attachment Issues (especially adult transracial adoptees): Early childhood relationships, specifically with our primary caregivers, shape and form our social and internal worlds. Many struggle with relational stress, especially regarding avoidance and anxiety, are due to the brokenness of those initial relationships. Yet, we are not doomed to live from these impoverished places. We can experience attachment, safety, and "mothering" later in life. I have focused much of my post graduate work/studies on repairing attachments.

Trauma: All of my clinical work during and after graduate school has been with children and families victimized by some form of trauma. Most of the folks I work with have suffered from childhood sexual abuse, racialized trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, and domestic violence. I am a trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR.

Racial Identity and Multicultural Issues: I am passionate about racial equality and recognize that many BIPOC folk have experienced rejection, oppression, dismissal, and worse - hatred. Much of my understanding of this often maddening and complex terrain comes from my own mixed-race experience. To become the fullness and GREATNESS of who you are meant to be often means a recognition of how you have been made small by a world of White Supremacy.

Groups

Group work is profound and beautiful because it allows us to experience resonance and solidarity with others who have shared in similar pain. Time and time again I witness group work creating faster and sustainable change and healing because it’s also a space where we build and are challenged in relationship.

Most of my groups are co-facilitated with Danielle Castillejo of www.wayfindingtherapy.com

I offer a free 25 minute consultation either by telehealth or phone for us to determine if we’re a good fit.
